Larry began working at Buffaloe Floors and Up, INC. as an apprentice carpet installer while still attending Waltrip High School in 1969. While going to college, he installed carpet part time and in many cases took his girlfriend and future wife, Renie Buffaloe, to assist. After graduating from Sam Houston State University in 1975, Larry went to work for Wilson Industries as an assistant credit manager.
In 1977, he returned to Buffaloe full time to join forces with Glenn Buffaloe as a salesman in both residential and commercial flooring.In his 40+ years in the flooring business, Larry has worked on numerous commercial and residential flooring projects. These projects range from churches, office buildings, and schools to homes of all price ranges. Larry’s main niche has been working with realtors in preparing houses for resale or helping their clients with flooring for their new home.
Larry and Renie have three sons and daughters-in-law: Kurt and Marti, Kyle and Tiffany and Cole and Whitney. Their son Kurt joined the company in 2001 making Buffaloe a rare 3rd generation family company and thus making his ‘Big Daddy’ and ‘Buffy’ very proud! In his spare time, Larry enjoys playing golf, following all of Houston’s pro and college teams and watching high school football. However, his main focus and time is devoted to his grandkids Cole Mc., Chance, Klayton, Klein and Hudson who are Grandpa and Gram’s pride and joy.
Ronnie has deep roots in the Houston community, graduating from Waltrip High School and then attending the University of Houston and Sam Houston State University where he received his degree in Bachelor of Business Administration. He joined Buffaloe Floors and Up, Inc. in 1979 and has gained expansive knowledge and experience in all facets of the flooring industry.
With over 30 years in the flooring business, Ronnie is the knowledge expert that everyone comes to for answers. He has worked on countless residential and commercial projects and is proud to have supportive and loyal customers who have worked with him over the years.
When Ronnie’s not at the office, he’s enjoying a game of dominoes on the patio with his family, rooting on the Houston sports teams, hunting, grilling, traveling, or attending a NASCAR race with his son-in-law and best friends. More than anything, he is a family man and enjoys spending time with his wife & best friend, Judy, and their two beautiful daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda & Matt and Renee & Jordan, their three loveable dachshunds, their twin grandsons, Cam and Eli and granddaughter Sailor.
Ken was born and grew up in Hallettsville, Texas, then graduated from the University of Texas in 1971. After college, he worked for Brown & Root, Inc. as an Office Manager at the Marine Fabrication Department, then in the Retirement & Savings Department. In 1982, he married the Buffaloe’s youngest daughter, Denie, and began working at Buffaloe Floors and Up in 1983. Ken set up our first national account with Service Corporation International, supplying funeral homes with flooring materials all across the nation.
Another of his favorite clients are the MacIngvale’s at Gallery Furniture and Westside Tennis. Ken sells both commercial and residential floor covering and works with several contractors in the area that do insurance and restoration work as well as working with realtors and their clients.
Ken and wife Denie have two daughters and sons-in-law: Leslie and Ryan and Lyndsay and Enrique. They also became grandparents in early 2015 with the arrival of Leslie and Ryan’s son, Liam. Ken remains an avid golfer and enjoys playing whenever possible and also enjoys watching his beloved Texas Longhorns football team.
Kurt Kristynik grew up in Cypress, TX and played football and baseball at Cy Falls HS. Upon graduation, he played baseball at Texas Tech University and Lubbock Christian University. During that time, he also coached baseball in the summer programs for Cy Falls HS and Lubbock Monterey HS. Upon graduating from Lubbock Christian in 2000, he served as a graduate assistant coach for Texas Tech University while completing his Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration.
In December of 2001, he began working at Buffaloe Floors and Up as a salesman and project manager as the 3rd generation to join the family business. He maintained that position until April of 2014 when he accepted a position as a full-time baseball coach in Livingston, TX where he served as both the head coach and general manager of the Texas Slam Baseball Academy. During that time he oversaw all operations at the facility as well as player development and assisting in the recruiting process for players with aspirations of playing college baseball. To date, he has had over 75 former players move on to play at the college level.
In June of 2015, Kurt and his family made the decision to move back to Cypress and he has reassumed his position in the company and is currently operating from both Buffaloe Floors and Up locations. He has maintained relationships with several commercial and residential builders and developers as well as numerous residential realtors throughout the area.
Kurt and his wife, Marti, live in Cypress and have a son, Cole, and a daughter, Chance. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time barbequing at home with family and friends, coaching his kids’ team as well as deer hunting and fishing. He has also continued assisting with the summer and fall baseball programs at Cypress Ranch HS, winners of the 2012 and 2015 Texas State Championships.
Scott began working for Buffaloe Floors and Up, Inc. in 1996 as a commercial installer. Prior to coming to Buffaloe, he had worked in the flooring industry since 1980. In 2002, he began selling full-time and specializes in commercial floor covering, but also sells residentially.
Scott’s installation experience makes him uniquely qualified to work successfully between customers and installers. His immense knowledge of many different types of commercial flooring have helped him as he has sold jobs to FedEx, James Coney Island, and many other commercial buildings around town.
Scott is originally from Pittsburg, PA and moved to Houston in 1984. He and his wife, Leigh Ann, live in Spring and have one son, Tyler.
Denie is the youngest daughter of founders, Glenn & Irene Buffaloe. She first began helping with the bookkeeping of their company while still in high school. Denie graduated high school from Northwest Academy in 1974, then from the University of Texas in 1977. After working for AT&T/Southwestern Bell for seven years in Austin and Houston, Denie decided to retire after the birth of her first daughter, and came to work full time for the family business in 1984.
Denie & Ken have 2 daughters, Leslie and Lyndsay. Leslie is a pharmacist for H-E-B and is married to Ryan Johnston and they have a son, Liam. Lyndsay is a dance teacher/choreographer in Houston and is married to Enrique Del Rio.
Denie is the Co-Owner of Buffaloe along with her sister, Renie. She also acts as CFO and Office Manager, and basically handles whatever is needed around the office, including all Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and all accounting and administrative duties.
Enrique Del Rio
Enrique grew up in the Houston area. At the tender age of 3 his family moved to Cypress, Texas. He graduated from Cypress Falls High School in 2005, attended Lone Star Community College, then graduated from The University of Texas at San Antonio with a degree in Finance in December, 2011. During his first 2 years of college, Enrique worked as a lead teller at Wells Fargo Bank and interned in the summer with Nong Shim marketing group. While attending UTSA, Enrique measured and surveyed several job sites for Buffaloe Floors and Up and began learning the aspects of job cost estimating.After returning to Houston after graduation, he began working for Graymeiren Holdings LLC, and after being with the company just 2 months, was promoted to District Manager in South Texas.While in charge of the South Texas area, ranging from Corpus Christi to Laredo, Enrique was able to establish himself in his new hometown of Corpus Christi. He networked with local Young Business Professionals of the Coastal Bend 501(c) and The Corpus Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to grow his business and network group.
As Social Chair of the non-profit organization, Enrique hosted many events and helped cultivate young minds and create leadership opportunities for the city of Corpus Christi. He met plenty of outstanding community leaders, one of which was the Mayor of Corpus Christi, Joe Adame. He also assisted District 2 City Councilman, Chad Magill, in his 2012 campaign increasing his web of networking. With his networking background, we have chosen Enrique to be our liaison with The Cypress Chamber of Commerce and with The Texas Community Referral Network in Cypress.
When he is not selling floors for Buffaloe Floors and Up, you can find him cooking up mouth-watering dishes in his kitchen or on his grill, or working on his golf swing with friends. We are thrilled to have Enrique as part of our team, as his youth and enthusiasm keeps us all on our toes.
Renie is the oldest daughter of Glenn and Irene Buffaloe. She has been working with the company since its inception in various roles while attending Waltrip HS and also Sam Houston St. University. Upon graduation from Sam Houston, she went to work for Southwestern Bell in Houston and worked there until 1980. After her sons were born, she continued to work in various accounting and office roles for Buffaloe Floors and Up.
In 1994, Renie launched a new division for Buffaloe and began selling mini-blinds and plantation shutters. Since then, she has worked on hundreds of commercial and residential projects for contractors, builders and homeowners. In addition to operating the blind and shutter business, she also oversees the sales for the Artstone products sold at both Buffaloe locations.
Renie and her husband Larry were married in 1974 and have 3 sons; Kurt, Kyle and Cole. She enjoys being ‘Gram’ to her grandchildren; Cole Mc, Chance, Klayton, Klein and Hudson and also going to football and baseball games either being coached or played by her kids and grandkids.
John Rolph is a native Houstonian who grew up in Houston and graduated from Madison HS. He began working for Buffaloe Floors and Up in 2001 and handles both warehouse foreman duties as well as all deliveries and pickups for jobsites. He oversees all shipping and receiving into the warehouse inventory and loads out all of the installers with their needed materials each day.
John enjoys all motorsports as well as hunting and fishing. A machinist by trade, John also worked for Craven Carpets prior to joining the staff at Buffaloe. He and his yellow lab, Charley, reside in the Forest West subdivision in northwest Houston.
